I have a confession...I bought some smoked cheese after seeing these. It was surprisingly tasty too. nyoro~n.

What font is used here, if you don't mind me asking
mikachan-PB, 120% width, faux bold, with a little bit of extra tracking.
Non-retarded version of >>23.
The official Churuya-san Manga strips up to this point, in the correct order, are:
I need to know the order of this!
Did you try, I dunno, reading the thread to see if anyone had posted that information? Like, three posts before yours?

How informative
Were you directly involved in the translation or what
If you get this strip, you are super ジャパニーズ!
New strip! The official ones are now:

I keep forgetting that the Churuya is less than eight inches tall
what the fuck does nyorn mean anyway you weeaboo faggots?
I'm >>65's Father, though right now I'm ashamed to admit it. He's been acting strange lately, been avoiding his friends, quit the baseball team, and been spending all his time in his bedroom with the lights off and his door shut. A confrontation was finally necessary (we were ALL concerned), so I went into his room one evening, and found him surfing iichan. Imagine my surprise! His face went white, he stammered a number of weak explanations, and then he typed in the above 'angry reply' as if that would explain it all.
Shaking my head, I left his room, and came here to apologize for invading his privacy, which caused the above post. >>65, even though I love you, I'm still ashamed of you because you're dishonest in your emotions. You still have a lot of growing up to do.

Also, another official strip! The list is currently:
>>2,3,4,5,7,10,24,14,25,21,26,32,35,37,39,47,56,67
To quote the artist himself, "This year's fall Nagato is just a little different from the usual!"

I shall call him... insert plot twisting music here twinky!
More Canonical Work!
And of course, 100GET.
Nyoro~n.
So, I tried to translate number 102 with Google, and panel one gave me:
There is no ginger
What the hell.
Protip: Google uses SYSTRAN, which has the worst automatic Japanese translator ever.
The Rikai would be better suited in my opinion though it assumes knowledge of syntax
Rikai, at least the online version, doesn't handle words written in kana so it wouldn't have helped here.
(PS: The SYSTRAN translation here was technically sort of correct, what with the multitude of homophones in Japanese. It just picked a really unlikely translation over the actual one.)
Nobody will understand this one.
<3 habanero
i made this :3

Moyatto balls are affiliated in some manner with a show named Nounai Esthe IQ Supuri/Supply. They have become a reasonably popular piece of merchandise.
I'm afraid my japanese can't work out specifics.
http://www.spike.co.jp/iq/movie.html
And advert for the DS confused me further. ^^;;
I think they're acually selling Churuya.. lol
quote:
Ok, I had to give up on the next script. It's really simple, but I just can't think of a decent way to render it in English.
The second panel is pretty much just "Happy new year". The third is Churuya trying to say "Kotoshi mo yoroshiku onegaishimasu", but she only manages "Kotoshi mo nyoroshi...". "Yoroshiku onegaishimasu" is pretty untranslatable already ("kotoshi mo" just means "...this year, too"), but getting a "nyoro" pun in there is beyond me.
I will gladly accept suggestions for how to render this! However, part of the problem is that it has to fill out both panels.
More Canonical Work!
One that I made for those who spend a lot of time in IRC.
There's something very wrong going on around vc: here.
I cant stand this anymore! I had to make my own. btw, this is a gundam joke, so, sorry if you dont understand ^^;
Fixed for the sake of consistency.
Churuya is vc:chureing all day long.
DON'T LISTEN TO HIS LIES, ASHE!
Another tribute to Ondore.
A new book is on the way!
I actually made this one (read: shopped it from another Naruto one)...
Can someone explain to me the meaning of "nyoro~n" ?
Thank you
It's an onomatopia for dejection, a bit like Homer Simpson's "Do`h!"
i feel so dirty posting this
only a matter of time until they actually do this on an episode of that retched show
He's still making them every once in a while!
This one's pretty back-to-basics.
why do i feel so sorry for her... all she wants is some smoke cheese... that's all...
>>156 was made in response to a thread about that Japanese kid who killed himself and had Churuya a picture at his funeral, I remember. (The kid was a big Churuya fan, and his family asked the artist to draw something.)
>>160
What a dick. Bwahahaha. Would fit in right with 4chan's /b/tards. But are you sure that's not an anonymous shop by somebody claiming to be the author?
Who's Tsuruya and who's Churuya? I'm assuming by the sound of it Churuya is a cuter take off of whoever Tsuruya is...?
Yeah, that's pretty much made up. A picture of Churuya did show up at some kid's funeral, but that's pretty much all that's known.
>>163
hey i just heard about this great anime called Haruhi you should watch it
So is this series on hiatus or something
>>172
That's good to know
So what happened between yesterday and the previous publication
Churuya and Kagaboo

This has been bothering me for ages: what is the onomatopoeia for dejection and, more importantly, how does something like dejection have an onomatopoeia in the first place?
nyoro~n
>>180
The japanese have an onomatopoeia for just about everything, from animal and human sounds, to sounds of people looking at you or people being lazy.
>>178
This is fucking amazing...AND I learned what the stat for guts means.
SMAAAAAAAAASH
How you can have sound words for actions that don't have sounds really baffles me.
>187
Jiiiiiiiiiiii~~~~
In Japanese, onomatopoeias are divided into two categories: those that are meant to mimic actual sounds, and those that are meant to express meaning without regard for whether or not there actually is a sound to be mimicked (there often isn't). In English, the overwhelming majority of our onomatopoeia falls into the first category. In fact, I can't even think of any from the second.
In Japanese, わんわん (wan wan) corresponds to the English "arf arf" or "woof woof," etc. にゃん (nyan) means "meow." Those are pretty straightforward. But then you have words like どんどん (don don), which expresses the idea of something happening quickly, さっさと (sassa to), which expresses the idea of doing something quickly and cleanly (as in not getting distracted), and the infamous しーん (shiin), which expresses silence. The closest thing to that in English would be the sound of a cricket chirping after a joke that fell flat, or a tumbleweed blowing across the stage. There are tons of other words, too, such as でれでれ (dere dere), which can express the state of being hopelessly infatuated with someone; in general, Japanese has many, many more onomatopoeia than English.
As a final note, although it's not really pertinent, many Japanese onomatopoeia play on repetition. Wan wan, don don, dere dere -- repetition like that occurs very often, whereas onomatopoeia such as nyan (which can also show up as nyan nyan) or shiin are perhaps less common. Also, unlike in English, heavy use of onomatopoeia is completely normal. Instead of saying "the dog barked," the Japanese would say something more like "the dog cried 'woof.'"
Also, to fulfill requests:
The onomatopoeia for dejection that you're looking for is しょぼん (shobon). It sees its fair share of use in manga and anime, but it might sound kind of geeky if you used it in real life.
When Churuya says にょろ~ん (nyoro~n), it's a neologism made by combining にょろ (nyoro), which is what the original Tsuruya says, with shobon. Cuteness and amusement results.

W...wow. Thanks for the extremely informative post.
Watch as I tantalizingly post an absurd image without any source information.
