In this thread, we share our best poetry from before we graduated from high school. College freshmen efforts are forbidden! (Don't fix your grammer or punctuation, it's more charming in the original.)
I'll start it off: I was 13 when I wrote this:
The Pen
The writer sat quietly in the glen,
writing, (to stir the hearts of men)
rebellious words, against the throne
of the king, and with a groan,
he rose to distribute his words in town.
He heard a noise, and turned around.
"Varlet pig, writing the treasonous word!"
And he killed the writer with his sword.
~ Ode to a Muffin
Ah! but what is this familiar smell?
What is this that seems so delectable?
A blueberry treat; this much I can tell.
Its visage seems nearly adorable.
Small for its kind, yet unmistakable:
Who would leave this sweet on its very own?
One whose faith was quite unreliable,
That the best choice was to leave it alone.
So now I have taken this pleasant task
Of eating it, before I am found out.
“Is this not ethical?” you’d surely ask.
But I’ve done this more times than you can count.
And now it is eaten; its day is done.
~ Slam Poetry (or, rather, the fervor thereof)
Ten minutes on the clock to go,
Ten words to use; that’s how it goes.
These words are a bit confusing, at best;
“Pile”; there’s one; here are the rest—
First I’ll find something to hurl,
But hurl a pen, or hurl a door?
Kick the ground with your shoe…
This doesn’t make sense! What should I do?!
Slide the key under the door,
Don’t get locked out anymore?
Candy, candy, how to use that?
Skip it for now, rhyme-with-at
Wheel, wheel, what to do?
~ Wait
floating
feeling
or something
less
similar?
It’s quite nice, now that
I have regained “normal” senses.
But it still seems so
very
strange.
I don’t remember much, but—
Now I see it all.
Distant memories, long and forgotten,
come back, horrid and rotten.
NIGHT LIGHT
I cannot sleep tonight.
The dark oppresses me.
The dark, normally a welcome friend,
bringing his companion, slumber
to cast his spell upon me,in this
midnight hour, and set upon me
a brief death.
No, tonight it crouches, waiting.
My night light sends it scurrying
to distant corners, reduced but oh so
obviously there, preying on my mind.
"the fireworks are overrated"
I said through the cold weather
"true beauty should be natural and last forever"
she said: "imaginations what you need
'man made' doesn't mean to concede.
and yes, after seconds they are no more, but that's what you use your memory for"
So i turned my head towards the skies
and all night dreamt of suicidal fireflies
This is as sophomoric as it gets, written in my freshman year
"Ten Little Idiots"
Ten little idiots went out to dine,
One stuck his fork into his hand and then there were nine
Nine little idiots looking for girls to date,
One got smacked and then there were eight
Eight little idiots went driving to Devon,
One died in the desert crash and then there were seven
Seven little idiots had to apply some Vicks,
One got allergic and then there were six
The dead swans lay in the stagnant pool.
They lay. They rotted. They turned
Around occassionally.
Bits of flesh dropped off them from
Time to time.
And sank into the pool’s mire.
They also smelt a great deal.

FYI, this chapter is a part of my original novel project that has been grounded for one year. God, I wish I could just continue it, but alas. The laziness got me.
Things to note:
-the girl is an android.
-the tiger is Siberian species.
-it takes place at the end of Cold War.
-the man's name is Professor Hahn.
I'm looking forward to it. I'll tell you what I think.

This board is for people to put stories into !
Out of sheer boredom, I have taken an extremely long post that I saw a few hours ago, copied it, and pasted it following this message. You have one week. Hammer out all grammatical, stylistic, or stylistic mistakes. The goal of this thread is to edit this into a clear, concise message.
Now, for our feature presentation.
Thanks for responding. I appreciate and understand your response I eventually resorted to emailing you my question. In both attempts, my emails failed to deliver. Long story short, my questions via email were far more polished than these earlier questions above. Now that I know I can get a hold of you this way, shall contacting you via the discussion board be preferred for you?
As I put time into crafting emails to present to you my request, please permit me to share my request as I intended for you to read:
Hello my online name is Cognac250. I am and have been a highly active member of Pointy Ears : http://www.wakachan.org/elf/wakaba.html I am also with in my knowledge the longest serving member and have earned the respect of my posting peers. I have also taken on the responsibility of learning how the ins and outs of the board work so to better serve PE's growing needs. It has been a learning process, but enjoyable. Before taking on a possible moderator role, I would to know more about what it means and entails for I have only met kind directions but no description. Upon reaching you, could you be kind enough to describe to me exactly what a moderator does and how.
Only one week? That's really pushing it, but I'll give it a stab.
It'd take me a week just to read that thoroughly.
I'd rather (try to) read Ulysses again. :(
Holy crap. That thing's a 1500 word essay, more or less. Well, here's a whack at it...

Thanks for your reply. My email sucks, so here's what I was trying to send you.

Hello, I'm Cognac250, and I want to be a mod, as I have lots of experience with the /elf/ board. However, I want to know what this responsibilty would entail, so I can evaluate how well I would perform in such a capacity. Thanks for reading this and responding.
[/email]
Anyways, I also have some questions about proper posting practices.
I'm concerned that you might have mistaken me for a spammer. Please know that this is not my intent, and correct any mistakes I may have made.
I also have no idea what's meant by "sock puppet", so if you could enlighten me, I'd be grateful.
That was a very, very brave attempt at summarization. Have you considered editing as a job option?

Nah. Ironically, I do horibly in formal English classes because I don't give a damn. Although I do have a tendency to nitpick other people's writing to death, so I guess I could have copy editor as a backup plan if engineering turns out to suck...
Hi my name is Cognac250, and I am a megasuckup hopeful who wants to mod a board because I think it would be cool and impress my friend, however no one likes me on the PE board, because I post crappy art, act like I am in charge and I forced a meme onto them and pretend to be her (it has always been my deepest dark secret to be a female blue demon shemale), and if I would become a Mod it will be my first order of buisness to change this board to my own fantasies and remove the posts and images of everyone who offends me.
for all that which is holy do not make this idiot a mod
Who can create the funniest joke based on the following punchline?
"I said BROOMSTICK, not BOOMSTICK!"
(Feel free to reverse that order if it increases the Funny.)
this is cool and deserves aging (but i can't be bothered to write my own right now, orz)
This is highly relevant to OS-Tan fans and people who like to see more Console Girls in that vein. I just threw together some core personalities/traits/features to create a unified bunch of Console Girls. If you want, use it to make fanarts and stuff, as I donate this concept to help a phenomena grow.
What would determine their bust size/age/clothes?
>>4
Portables are all small compared to the big 'uns (they are depicted as children).
Size and relative power of the console affects their bust size, so all of the current/next-genners have large cup sizes, PS3/360 in particular. PSP, DS, and Nomad would appear more developed phsyically than the other handhelds.
In addition, their relative battery life is used as a marker for their stamina, referring to how easily they get tired when 'their batteries run down'.
Mostly, Console girls wear clothes based on the looks of their hardware, so NES would also have Famicom-themed clothes as her alternate outift. DS would have sticker-tattoos (referring to the decorative skins that can be applied to the DS and Lite), and PSP would have a bulletproof vest (referring to the 3rd-party armored shells available for protecting PSPs). Their real-world accessories are applied as things that they own (Odessey has her Pong Paddles, for example.)
I chose to use interesting pieces of hardware trivia to add little quirks and details to the console girls, because it makes them more unique (Dreamcast daydreams and uses her fishing-rod controller to go fishing whenever she has the time to, lol)
I figured I'd start with something simple.
I didn't write this!
Ai no Senshi:
Re: Cutie Honey and revolutionary love
My essay on reasons behind the popularity of the fighting shounen genre, particularly among American fans.
The serialization that is shounen provides continuity, as well as a perpetual sense of being an 'insider' because the viewer recognizes past elements/attacks/plot twists that return further along in the series. This sense of recognition is the same thing that made reading the Cthulhu Mythos so enjoyable.
That being said, wouldn't you agree that your essay covers most sports anime as well, particularly Prince of Tennis, Major, and Yakitate Japan?
(For the sake of argument, participating in any competition is a sport.)
Wonderful, i thing you hit the nail, also you can say the same about all the mon series (pokemon digimon shaman king etc.
I think the same can be said about InuYasha altough I admit that it is a little more sophisticated example (multiple objectives, more possible end points, several measuers of success but the theory applies.)
This was something I did for some friends on the fourms awhile back, I think its rather neat, so ill share with you fella's. Enjoy
