I figured this would be the best place to find an answer on this.

I was wondering what kind of sword D'Eon/Lia uses in the anime Le Chevalier D'Eon? I assume it isn't a rapier, but maybe I'm wrong. The blade just seems a little thicker, and the hilt doesn't seem like what would be on a rapier.

That's... A good question.

Try side-sword or spada da lato. The blade is thicker on those 'cutting rapiers,' but the hilt is something that is probably custom-made.

It looks 17-18th century, so I'm guessing dress/court sword. It's like a rapier, but smaller. The modern olympic foil takes root in the dress sword.
