Characters not related with weapons, can it be done?
This thread may or may not be slightly controversial, but the board's been very slow lately and it's pretty close to on theme:Guns. (Er, the bullets are kinda pointy, right? :-) )(No trolling, please. This is a one-time thing. If you have a problem with guns showing up here, no problem, just move along to the Fate/Stay Night and 'Get Crazy' threads I just started. :-) )

Reposting, for great justice.
jubei-chan!
And now, since I have a bunch, my favorite Fate/Stay Night wallpapers (that qualify to be here).
Ok, that's that. I figured there were a few too many to include in the mass-wallpaper-dump thread I just did, so here they are instead. :-)

That's it. I'm sick of all this "Masterwork Bastard Sword" bullshit that's going on in the d20 system right now. Katanas deserve much better than that. Much, much better than that.I should know what I'm talking about. I myself commissioned a genuine katana in Japan for 2,400,000 Yen (that's about $20,000) and have been practicing with it for almost 2 years now. I can even cut slabs of solid steel with my katana.Japanese smiths spend years working on a single katana and fold it up to a million times to produce the finest blades known to mankind.Katanas are thrice as sharp as European swords and thrice as hard for that matter too. Anything a longsword can cut through, a katana can cut through better. I'm pretty sure a katana could easily bisect a knight wearing full plate with a simple vertical slash.Ever wonder why medieval Europe never bothered conquering Japan? That's right, they were too scared to fight the disciplined Samurai and their katanas of destruction. Even in World War II, American soldiers targeted the men with the katanas first because their killing power was feared and respected. So what am I saying? Katanas are simply the best sword that the world has ever seen, and thus, require better stats in the d20 system. Here is the stat block I propose for Katanas:(One-Handed Exotic Weapon)1d12 Damage19-20 x4 Crit+2 to hit and damageCounts as Masterwork(Two-Handed Exotic Weapon)2d10 Damage17-20 x4 Crit+5 to hit and damageCounts as MasterworkNow that seems a lot more representative of the cutting power of Katanas in real life, don't you think? First off, i agree with Crazy Wolf that it is far to difficult to find western styled swords in japanese art. however you people are making way to big of a fuss about this.however i must admit you all do know your weapons pretty damn well:P. and just as a little tidbit. Katana's, even though were invented in Japan, they concept of the single, curved blade came from Taiwaniese raiders who tried to invade. I can't recall what year approx. but the Taiwaniese blades were slightly more curved than the katana and not nearly as sharp. up until that point, the Japanese warriors used straight, double edged swords. they saw the benefit and distructive power of a curved single bladed sword, and the range for close combat of straight swords and they mixed the concepts together, thus creating the Katana.

Also, the weeaboos of this thread have spouted so many Katana myths it makes me sick. You guys should try reading up at swordforum. I'm sorry, I just can't quite believe the ridiculously bastardized story of Taiwanese raiders and combining straight and curved sword designs. The weeabooism here is also sickening, with the whole KATANA IS SUPERSWORD LOL thing.I stamp this thread with <--

the main thing still is who uses the weapon, their experience and stuff. btw, katanas are usualy slice weapons (tho they CAN stab, they don't use it too often), and most european style swords were hack/slash and stab weapons. slice weapons are far less effective against thick armors than stab/slash weapons (since they deliver more force against it), but deal serious damage against not-guarded areas and deliver serious flesh wounds. and they are quite fast. since we do not know how a fight between Samurai and knight would have ended, we may never know which was better.about that "Samurais were shot first" comment, well its normal for ranged units to kill melee wielders first, especialy the fast ones.they deal far more damage once they're in range than the other units. Ranged weapons also have the contra that they tend to hit allies, if enemy and ally are in close combat/close to each other.Samurai's were to charge first in those battles to get close as fast as possible, being the front line and thus the main target aswell.
Less bitching, more pictures
>>3435>>Sakabatou: A reverse-blade sword. Basically a katana where the blade is on the other side of the blade. Not meant for killing people and unknown as to whether the sword was actually ever used by anyone. HAHAHAHAHA. Nobuhiro Watsuki himself stated he created the idea of the Sakabato when asked to clarify it's origins. He said he was often embarassed when fans would claim the sword was real/owned an authentic one.

>>3435Post fails.First: Ninjatou. If it's DAGGER LENGTH, do you know what we call them? Daggers, not swords. The traditional weeaboo interpretation is of it as "a straight backed Katana", but that's fairly retarded. The oldest Japanese sabers were all straight backed. Plus, what's the point of carrying a SPECIFIC weapon type going "O HAY LOOK AT ME I'M A NINJA"? Existence is a bit dubious. >>GatanaAre you special? The K and the G sound is interchangeable.
